Men only: What's the best college major for a guy who wants to work with his hands?

What is the best major for someone like that?

He will be going to trade school after graduation to learn car mechanics or surveying or something like that.

In the meantime, he has tried computer engineering and now civil engineering, and it's not working out. He is not successful at these majors.

He's gone to college for 3 years now, although I think he has a sophomore standing at present.

Any suggestions on a college, also? The one he is at now is too hard for him. He got a 21 on the ACT in math, and just a composite score of 22 on the ACT total.

I would suggest getting a degree in Building Construction or Construction Management or Geomatics (Land Surveying).
Reply:Why can't women have an opinion?

Even though I am a woman, I have worked with mechanical engineers, and that is a very hands-on field. They are usually the ones fixing and tinkering with machinery in factories.

Another field is chemistry. I am an analytical chemist, and it is all working with my hands. (How shocking, I know, a woman in a hands-on career). In fact, most scientific fields will involve some working with hands, if you go into research. Art is also very hands-on.

But, if he is going to go to a trade school for a career, then it doesn't matter what his bachelor's degree is in. Get it in whatever you want.
Reply:he should go to trade school. Lock smith is a good course and pays well.
Reply:He should learn to be an electrician, industrial mechanic or heating and air conditioning technician. He can graduate with an associate degree in two years. Most communities have an accredited technical college. Try ITT technical college. These are very good paying and secure careers.
Reply:there is a college major quiz you can take on the computer. i took it when i "thought" i knew what i wanted to do, and it pointed me in a total new direction... i went that direction and my grades got better, and it my career now.
