Reply:Usually the doors are locked, and avoid known problem area's as much as possible.

Don't leave personal items of value visible inside the unoccupied car interior.

Park in well lighted areas at large stores/malls.

If someone or a couple of vehicles attempt a car jacking to me, we are ALL going into the ditch together and I promise it will get ugly from that point..........I hate punks and their counterparts.......

Been driving for 31 yrs.........

When all else fails, have Smith %26amp; Wesson at your disposal.

You'll need a personal protection permit of course......

Reply:I park in my impound yard, with the 6 foot chain link and 3 strands of barbed wire, not to mention the 6 security lights and cameras.

I keep the doors locked.

I drive like a crazy man.
Reply:LoJack, or surveillance cam mounted in your car.
Reply:Put it on a lift! Oooooh lol
Reply:26, female. I drive a Honda Accord...and for my job I drive an 18 wheeler truck. But, I'll answer for my car to keep it simple. Been driving 11 years, no accidents, no tickets- 5 and a half years in a semi truck, 520,000 safe miles behind the wheel of a semi.

To avoid carjackings. The basics- keep your doors locked, windows up. Be aware of your surroundings %26amp; people on the streets. Keep valuables, purses, radar detectors, cell phones, MP3 players, etc...out of sight. Keep a can of mace handy; I keep mine in the cup holder. When you approach a stoplight or stopped traffic, always leave about 2 car lengths between you and the car in front of you. And try to stay in the "outside lanes" if there are more than 2 lanes. This gives you enough room to punch the gas and steer *around* the car in front of you, to escape the carjacker. Hitting another car is better than being shot or stabbed. If the situation calls for it, remember also your car is a deadly weapon, a 5500 lb battering ram. Use it if you can.

To avoid car theft....Alarms work- kept my car from being stolen once. Invest in a high tech alarm system with a "kill switch" or ignition lock, especially if you have a car that's a high risk for theft. If your car is especially valuable, customized, or desirable to a thief, systems like LoJack are worth the money.

Not much will deter a professional car thief, if you live in an area with a high risk of car thefts and have a desirable car. "Offense" is the best defense- having LoJack or something greatly increases your risk of getting the car back. I have an alarm with ignition lock, I do keep my doors locked, park in well lit areas, take valuables out of the car, etc. I used to live in an apartment complex with a cop for a neighbor so I started parking next to his cruiser even though it was across the street from my building, lol.

hope this helps :)
